Setting your D2L Discussion View preference

To facilitate ease of discussion forum navigation, you may choose to activate the Discussion List pane.  Click Settings.

Check ‘Always show the Discussions List pane’. Scroll to the bottom of the page to Save.

Alternatively, instead of changing the default setting, you may easily switch between the two views by clicking on the drop-down menu beside the topic name to find out which one works better for you.


As instructor, you may find the Grid View more useful as it lets you see information such as the Subject, Author’s name, Timestamp, Replies, etc. all laid out in a table. It also allows you to collect and Print selected threads.

If you do not see any posts in Grid view, you might need to adjust Grid view settings:
