Exporting Zoom Cloud Recordings to YuJa

There are two possible ways to move cloud recordings from Zoom to YuJa. The first way is to download the recording to your computer and then upload it to YuJa. The second way is to integrate your Zoom and YuJa accounts and then directly export the recordings.

The first way will work in all conditions, but requires more manual effort. The second option is more efficient if you have multiple recordings to move, however, do note that if your Zoom recordings are older than six months, you may not be able to batch export them this way.

Where do I find my Zoom cloud recordings?

Go to https://ucalgary.zoom.us and sign in with your UCalgary IT username and password. Select Recordings on the left. Details of your Cloud Recordings will be displayed. If you have created your Zoom meetings in D2L, you will also be able to find the associated cloud recordings here. Click on the name of the meeting/ topic to access your recording files and details.

How do I recover a deleted cloud recording?
  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. In the navigation menu, click Recordings.
  3. If there are any cloud recordings in the trash, you will see a Trash icon at the top right. Click the icon to see any deleted cloud recordings within the past 30 days.
  4. Select the Topic (Meeting Recording) you wish to restore. Click Recover on the right.
  5. Click Recover again to confirm.
  6. Your recording will be available again on the Recordings page.

Option 1: Manually Exporting Zoom Recording, Saving it Locally or Importing into YuJa

Manually downloading Zoom Cloud Recordings

From the Cloud Recordings tab in Zoom, you may download your files by clicking on the three dots to the right of the Meeting/ Topic name and then selecting Download. Alternatively, you may click on the Topic name to see details of the recording and in its various formats.

NOTE: The number of files as well as the formats and layouts available for download will depend on the Recording Settings you have set in place prior to hosting the Zoom meeting. More about Recording layouts.

IMPORTANT: Open the downloaded files to confirm they are readable. Store them in a safe location on your computer or an external storage device so you may access them later. If you wish to back up your recordings to the cloud, proceed to upload them to YuJa.

Manually uploading recordings to YuJa

Review the recording files you have downloaded from the Zoom portal. Choose your preferred layout/ format. We recommend using the video (mp4) version of your recording. Follow instructions on this page to upload your media to YuJa.

YuJa will automatically generate captions for the uploaded recording.

Once imported, you may further modify settings and access for the video, if you wish. Find out more about how to Share a YuJa Video.

Option 2: Automatically Exporting from Zoom to YuJa

Directly exporting Zoom Cloud Recordings to Yuja

To batch/ automatically export Zoom Cloud Recordings to Yuja, you must first log in to https://yuja.ucalgary.ca using your UCalgary IT username and password. After that, connect your Zoom and YuJa accounts by following these steps:

Click on the Profile icon at the top right and select My Account.

Select Integrations from the menu on the left.

Enter your UCalgary email address in the Zoom Linkage Email field and click Send Verification Code.

You will receive a verification code in your email, which you then need to enter in the Verification Code field. Click Verify Code.

It is recommended that you click the Disable button to turn off Automatic Import so you can first review your list of Zoom recordings and make a conscious decision on what to bring over to YuJa. Click the Select button by Import Recordings.

A list of your Zoom Cloud Recordings will be displayed. Click the Import button by the name of the meeting recording you wish to bring over. To batch import multiple recordings, you may use the checkboxes on the left to make your selection, then click the Import Recordings button.

NOTE: Zoom Recordings that are older than 6 months may not be visible on this page. Please see Option 1 for manual workaround.

Once the recording has been imported, you may access it from the My Zoom Recordings folder within your YuJa Media Library.

If necessary, you may modify settings and access for the video. Find out more about how to Share a YuJa Video.
