Creating a Video on a PC

This post was adapted from https://support.yuja.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042295893-Creating-a-Recording-with-the-Software-Capture-for-PC-Application

Once you have installed the YuJa Software Capture, you will be able to create a recording on your computer.

Accessing Software Capture

Within the YuJa interface, navigate to Create Recording at the top of the screen.

Select Software Capture and Start. The installed copy of Software Capture will open on the computer.

If prompted to log in, select Single Sign-On and University of Calgary.  Sign in with your IT username and password.

Starting your Recording

Enter a Title and Description for your capture, if desired.  Otherwise, the video will be assigned a generic name, e.g. My Event on “Date”

Any new capture will be saved in the Default Collection folder under your personal Media Library

Make any necessary recording selections, including video, audio and screen. You may choose to save your selections as default under Profile, but this is not required.

Recording your Capture

Review the Preview to check the webcam, screen captures and audio.  Press the Start button to begin your capture. When you press the Start button, you’ll have three seconds before recording begins. Use this time to bring up your files or presentation material on-screen, if you’re capturing your screen. Proceed with your recording – try to speak clearly and naturally.

Stop your recording by clicking on the Stop button on the Mini-bar or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F, the default hotkey sequence.

Using the Mini-Bar

The Mini-bar provides an easy way, on your screen, to pause or stop a YuJa recording.

  • Press the Pause button to pause the YuJa Software Station. Press Play when ready to resume recording.
  • Select the Stop button to stop your YuJa Software Station recording.

Deleting, Saving or Publishing Your Capture

When you complete your recording, you have two options available.

  • Press Delete if you don’t want to keep the file.
  • Choose Save to save your capture recording to your individual folder in the Media Library.
