Maintaining a positive learning and work environment depends on the commitment of each user to engage in activities that are in accordance with relevant laws and University of Calgary policies and regulations. Please review Commitment to the Responsible Use of D2L and Media Recording in Learning Environments Operating Standards.
D2L/ Brightspace allows for third party tools (such as those provided by textbook vendors for course content or functionality). The standard used to integrate these tools, Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI), has the potential to expose student data to be accessed by the third party tool provider, and as such these integrations need to be reviewed and managed so that the university is able to responsibly steward and protect our students. Additionally, the university has a policy that forbids direct student costs for items used for their assessment in a course.
The following tools are available for integration* within a course:
To request one of these existing tools to be activated in your course in Brightspace, submit a UService request.
To request a new tool that is not listed here, please follow the UService Software Acquisition process guide.
* Note: The tools listed above are currently being reviewed by IT, Legal and Supply Chain Management to ensure the vendors sufficiently protect student data and comply with university policies.
